Academy Parents and Carers are invited to join us on Tuesday 4th February for Parent Forum. This session will see us talking about the role of Mental Health First Aiders in the Academy, and an opportunity for you to share your views. We look forward to seeing you there!
We have received a lovely letter from Wythenshawe Foodbank to thank us for the food donations we made before Christmas – students and staff donated a whopping 66kg of food altogether! Well Done and Thank You to everyone who contributed 😀
A big change is happening today! Each of our students has been given their own reusable water bottle, ahead of us stopping the sale of bottled water in our dining room – this will dramatically cut the amount of single-use plastic waste we generate.
Help us ny being the change – wash and reuse your water bottle every day!
On Wednesday 3rd July we are asking Academy staff and students to wear an item of green and make a suggested donation of £1 to support the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
By donning our greenery, we will help bring a little thrill and excitement to the wards by providing their young patients with access to Magic Makers. Magic Makers are specialist children’s entertainers who create an environment of fun and laughter, and provide patients with a distraction from the stressful and sometimes painful treatments and procedures they may face during their time in hospital.
If you would like to take part, you may wear a green item in addition to your usual school uniform – no trainers or face paint please. Please hand your donation to your form tutor during registration.
This activity is completely voluntary, although it would be great if as many staff and students as possible are able to take part!
Next week we are celebrating the Cricket World Cup in the Dining Room with a delicious menu themed around each match. As well as these delicious new tastes, we will have our usual steamy jacket potatoes, homemade pasta pots and selection of sandwiches and paninis.
If you are interested in finding out about how to forge a career in games design, come along to the Aspire to Be carers session tomorrow. All students in Year 7, 9 and 11 welcome, the session is held over the early lunch break (12.15pm – 12.45pm) and will be in T12. A sandwich and drink will be provided.
On day three of Mental Health Awareness Week, Welfare lead and Academy Counsellor, Mrs Evason is continuing to offer our students a Mental Health drop in service every break time during this week. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek
Guided mindfulness sessions for students will take place in the Academy on Tuesday 14th May, see Miss Sheridan. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek
