Apprenticeships are a great way to study, gain work experience and be paid for it, so they can offer a brilliant route into a career.
Springpod are holding an Apprenticeship Virtual Careers Fair tomorrow (Wednesday 27th January 2021), where you will have the opportunity to learn from companies such as HSBC, Network Rail, EY and Cancer Research UK.
Some of the companies providing talks and interacting with students are also either due to run Virtual Work Experience Programmes in the coming months or are already accepting applications. This means that, not only will you be able to learn about potential apprenticeships at each company, but also find out about current programmes and insight days that you can get involved with from home!
While we are unable to do our normal PE lessons we have created this resource for you to try at home. You will find lots of workouts and some challenges here, as well as weekly activities from Manchester United Foundation.
If possible, try to do the activities as a family. Exercise is very important for both your mental health and physical wellbeing. The PE Department at Manchester Health Academy want to support you as much as possible.

We are delighted that this year’s Executive Student Leadership team have been selected. Head Girl is Summer Mee, Head Boy is Ali Mohammed, Deputy Head Girl is Libby Bonney and Deputy Head Boy is Daniel Phillips.
These roles are the most senior student roles in the Academy, and provides a sense of community and strength for the student community and an important link between students and staff. It involves being both the voice of the students, as well as being strong role models and ambassadors for the Academy.
Deputy Head Girl, Libby, said, “I am looking forward to ensuring that students across the Academy know that they will be listened to, and to making sure that the school is the best it can be for students. This step into leadership has given me a new sense of independence, and I know it will be a great experience to draw on in the future.”
Head Boy, Ali, added, “We are honoured and privileged to have been chosen for these roles – it has been a dream throughout my time here to represent the students and Manchester Health Academy.”
The four are studying hard and all aspire to go onto further study – Summer plans to study Health and Social Care, whilst Ali plans to pursue electrical engineering and manufacturing. Libby has wanted to continue with her long-held interest in drama and acting, and Daniel is interested in studying electronics.
We are delighted to announce that Wythenshawe Cricket Club will be running a cricket club at the Academy.
This is open to all students in Year 7 and 8.
The Cricket Club will take place on Mondays, 4.00-5.00pm; students can join in straight after another after-school activity if they attend one already, or they may wish to go home and return for this club.
Students will need to bring a PE kit with them to take part.
Please note that this club is offered through the community facility and not school, so please ensure you are aware of all arrangements if your child plans to attend straight after an after-school activity as the school reception closes at 4.00pm.
Players would be become part of Wythenshawe Cricket Club and any games played would be representing this team, not the Academy, so would be a great opportunity to for your child to get involved in a sport outside of school. If you or your child would like more information, please visit http://wythenshawe.play-cricket.com/
